1939-1947 Job Rated Trucks


The Engines


A 1939 Dodge TC 116-inch wheelbase half-ton was powered by the 70 horsepower 201 cubic inch L-six cylinder.

In 1939 all 3/4 ton pickups were powered by the 75 horsepower 218 cubic inch L-head six cylinder.

A 1939 Dodge TD-21 133-inch wheelbase one-ton pickup was powered by the 75 horsepower 218 cubic inch L-head six cylinder.

1942-1947 all 1/2 and 3/4-ton pickups had a 95 horsepower 218 six cylinder.

1942-1947 all one tons had a 105 horsepower 230 cubic inch six cylinder.

 

The Wheelbases


1/2, 3/4 and 1 tons 116" with a 7 1/2' bed

1 tons 120" wheelbase with a 7 1/2' bed and 133" wheelbase with a 9' bed.

1 1/2 ton 133" wheelbase with a 9' bed.  1939-1942 only.

 

Other Facts


In 1939 The two-tone paint design was standard.

1939-1985 Wood planks with the steel strips were used in all pickup beds.

1940 restyled grille and the the headlights had parking lights on top.

Starting in 1940 all headlights were sealed beam type.

1941 was the first year of the cowl lights.

1941 the grille was restyled but stayed the same through 1947.

1941-1942 had chrome bars on the lower grille.

1943-1944 no civillian trucks were produced.

1945 the WC model pickup was known as the "Blackout Model" no chrome was used.
